Overview
Motherwell College is committed to making this website accessible to all users. It has been tested in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 and Firefox browsers and has also been tested using the Window Eyes screen reader.
Layout and content
The site uses Cascading Style Sheets (CSS2) to control all of the presentation and layout, allowing the site to be viewed across a number of web browsers. The content has been written and formatted to make it accessible, using headings to separate blocks of text and link phrases that are meaningful out of context.
Keyboard users can also use the 'skip to main content' link on all pages to avoid tabbing through navigation.
The text can also be made larger or smaller using the controls on your browser. To change the text size in IE6 and Firefox use the 'View' menu and select 'Text Size'. To change text size in IE7 use the 'Page' menu and select 'Text Size'.
Compliance
The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines, published in 1999 by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), are the globally accepted standard for developing accessible websites and are broken down into 'checkpoints' with 3 levels of priority, Level A being the most basic standard which all sites should aim to meet, Level AA being a higher standard and Level AAA Being the highest standard of accessibility to aim for. The sections of this site designed for public viewing aim to meet AA and AAA standard.
The site is tested regularly to ensure that these standards are maintained.
