Alternative ways to study

Our Excellent Range

In this prospectus you will find details of our excellent range of full-time and part-time courses. There are also many alternative ways of studying to suit your lifestyle. Here are some of the options available to you:

Community Learning

Many courses are available in community venues, such as schools and community centres. These courses are ideal if you are unable to travel to College or prefer to learn in your local area.

You can now search our up-to-date database of community learning opportunities by area.

Flexible Learning

Flexible learning allows you to study from the comfort of your own home, with the support of a college tutor. We will send you all the materials you require and you are welcome to use the College's facilities.

E-learning

E-learning gives you access to a range of materials that can be used to study for a qualification, or as an additional tool to assist you on your course. These materials can be accessed from anywhere that has an Internet link and online tutor support is also available.

Learndirect Centres

The "Mezz", situated on the first floor of Motherwell College, is open during term-time, which includes some evenings. Students, the local community and employees from local businesses are encouraged to use the award-winning Mezz on a drop-in or prearranged basis. It is a cross-College facility, which is both hugely popular and valuable due to:

  • its accessibility, via, a ramp
  • extended opening hours throughout the week
  • its facilities, including a suite of 38 computers with unlimited Internet access, colour printer, scanner, binding machine, quiet study area and presentation workshop
  • its tutor-supported learning, if required
  • the opportunities to gain additional qualifications online (Learndirect Learningbytes)

You are also welcome to drop in to our newly refurbished Learndirect centre based at Fir Park, Motherwell Football Club. Here you can develop new skills, learn basic IT, prepare for the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) or use the facilities to update your CV, surf the 'net and communicate by email.
