Our aim is to equip you with the skills, knowledge and qualifications which will help you, with our guidance, to find meaningful employment within the ever expanding job market of Professional Catering as a Chef, Waiter or Restaurant Supervisor. We have a range of courses to start you on the employment ladder or help you to access further study. Additional professional qualifications in Food Hygiene and Health & Safety are also available. Our team of dedicated staff will ensure that you will have an enjoyable and positive college experience during your time with us.

The Department would like to invite students of all levels and abilities to sample from its wide menu of courses. In Year 1, learners get a taster of all aspects of catering, in a comprehensive introduction to the industry. In Years 2 & 3 it is possible to enhance employability by specialising in areas such as Food and Beverage or Patisserie.
Our learning facilities include a fully-operational restaurant, ML One, which is open to the public. Our most important resource is our enthusiastic staff, with a wealth of industry experience to pass along whilst taking a personal interest in the wellbeing of every learner. Whatever your existing level of experience, we can guarantee the opportunity to progress smoothly towards professional qualifications. And many of our courses can be served at your convenience on a flexible or part-time basis. Successful students are guaranteed job interviews with our industrial partners and for those who want to continue their studies, the Department encourages progression to degree-level courses, including Motherwell College's very first degree - BA Hospitality Management.
