Firtrees Nursery
Location
Firtrees Nursery is located on the campus of Motherwell College. It is a new purpose-built nursery catering for the children of parents/carers attending courses at Motherwell College.
The Nursery cares for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years and also provides ‘Before and After School’ care.
Staff
All Firtrees Nursery staff are qualified and registered with the Scottish Social Services Council. Staff are trained and knowledgeable in current practices and take part in continuous professional development. We have a highly motivated and caring workforce who will support and encourage your child to reach his/her full potential.
Food Provision
Firtrees Nursery is a Gold Award health promoting nursery. We encourage healthy eating and lifestyles. You can also talk to our staff if your child has special dietary needs.
Our nursery lunches are prepared and cooked by our own qualified chef and trained kitchen staff. Our ingredients are fresh, nutritious and, where possible, locally sourced. Morning and afternoon snacks are also provided for the children.
Curriculum
Our children in the pre-school sector will be following the Curriculum For Excellence. Our young children will gain skills in the early level of the curriculum enabling them to become Responsible Citizens, Effective Contributors, Confident Individuals and Successful Learners.
The Nursery also focuses on Scotland’s national priorities which will encourage and develop our children’s skills in Early Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Our younger children's early development and learning will be met by using the Birth to Three document.
Parental Contribution
Firtrees Nursery welcomes parental contribution and encourages you to become involved in the life of the centre. There are various committees which you can join and be involved in.
Parental involvement within the nursery playrooms is also encouraged (Disclosure checks will be undertaken). The Nursery also has several informal and formal evenings so that you are fully involved in your child’s learning and teaching.
As our Nursery is continually improving the service our parents are involved in the self evaluation process.
