Princes Trust Team Help to Turn Over a New Leaf
The Hamilton Prince’s Trust Team ran from 14th September until 4th December 2009 and completed a team challenge in partnership with South Lanarkshire Rough Sleepers Initiative where they worked hard to tidy and clean the front and back garden for a gentleman in Carluke who was at risk of homelessness unless he improved the condition of his garden. The team cleared away nettles, rubbish, hired a skip (and filled it!), cut back hedges, cleared the pathways and even uncovered an old path that ran the length of the back garden allowing the owner to be able to gain access to the back of his garden to complete the rest. This was a huge help to the gentleman and provided him with the opportunity to make a fresh start and stay on his feet.
Motherwell College are Scotland biggest Delivery Partners for the Prince’s Trust Volunteer Team Programme and in partnership with South Lanarkshire Council currently operate three programmes in Hamilton, Rutherglen and Lanark. The 12-week nationally recognised volunteer programme supports young people, between the ages of 16-25 years old, that are unemployed and unsure of their future.
