World Class Facilities

Inspiring Learning Environment

The new Motherwell College will offer students a truly inspiring learning environment. The campus will have the most modern of facilities and also acknowledges the heritage of Ravenscraig in the Motherwell community.

The building has been thoughtfully designed by world leading architects. The main teaching block will have a large amount of glazing, and a large proportion of the southern elevation will be contained behind a glazed curtain. Behind this will be an atrium which creates an internal streetscape in the college building.

Campus developments include a five-storey teaching block, a two-storey workshop block, a seven-storey residential block, a nursery block, a student residence, associated parking and landscaping.

The seven-storey residential block will provide 50 rooms. The building is cylindrical in design, echoing the former Ravenscraig structures.

The development will also include conference facilities, a public learning centre, a training restaurant and bar, performing arts space, and a job shop.

The nursery building will provide 300 nursery placements for pre-school children and for after-school care.

There will also be an abundance of social space within the new campus. This will include a modern food court, two student common rooms and an outdoor plaza at the centre of the campus.

The new College will also have a three-storey split-level learning centre which is open to the public. Motherwell College is at the heart of the community and everyone in that community is encouraged to be part of the learning experience.

The mission to make learning accessible to all has contributed to the College’s success to date. This commitment to inclusion will travel with the College to Ravenscraig where Motherwell College will lead the way in Lanarkshire, in a purpose-built, spectacular centre of learning at the new campus.
