January 2009 courses available now
Expertise in the field of Health and Safety is becoming increasingly important for businesses and Motherwell College is helping to lead the way in Lanarkshire with a variety of courses offered in the subject area.
Health & Safety courses on offer at the College include the REHIS Elementary Certificate, NEBOSH National General Certificate and both IOSH Working and Managing Safely Certificates.
In April 2007 the Department introduced a new Modern Apprenticeship in Occupational Health & Safety which has been very popular with middle managers and representatives within the industry. This course provides busy managers and representatives, who are unable to attend college, with the opportunity to obtain certificated recognition for the work that they do in their field.
The Department also recently identified a need in all industry sectors for a Health & Safety course to be delivered more flexibly. This resulted in a pilot of a new Level 2 Certificate in Health & Safety at Work. The combination of comprehensive learning materials and tutor back-up is proving to be a great success. This program was introduced in September 2007 with 9 candidates from different companies, feedback from whom has been very positive. This course has proven so popular that another 32 candidates are preparing to commence their studies. The course is delivered via flexible learning, with extensive tutor backup, and in line with candidates' vocational and specific needs.
