Library Online Resources
These are a collection of databases containing newspapers, journals, photographs, images and other resources. They cover a range of subjects and most are available both on and off campus. To access most of the resources you will be asked for your college username and password, the passwords required for other resources are listed in the resource description.
Archival Sound Recordings

Census Dissemination Unit

National and international newspaper and journal titles providing full text articles. Available on and off campus. College username.
Institute of Hospitality Management
A collection of ebooks, journals, electronic reports and websites for the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. Login details available from the Library.
Intute
Intute is a gateway to Internet resources for students in higher and further education in the UK. Resources are arranged into subject areas. You may browse through the resources or search by keyword. Includes tutorials on searching the internet in particular subjects. No password required.
Ireland Collection (JSTOR)
A collection of books, journals and manuscripts relating to Ireland. It includes materials from the 1780s to the present and covers a range of disciplines in the arts, humanities and sciences. Available on and off campus. College username.
Issues Online
Online version of the Donnellan Issues series that includes key facts, statisitics and articles on a wide range of social issues. Available on and off campus. Log in using home institution, select Motherwell College. College username.
SCRAN (Scottish Cultural Resources Access Network)
This is a database of over 300,000 images, movies and sounds from museums, galleries, archives and the media. All resources are copyright cleared for educational use. Available on and off campus. College username.
VADS (Visual Arts Data Service)
An online resource for the visual arts comprising over 100,000 images which have been copy-right cleared for use in learning and teaching in the UK.
Virtual Training Suite
This is a set of online tutorials to help improve Internet searching and ICT skills. The ‘teach yourself’ tutorials are available for most subject areas. In addition to developing skills each tutorial lists lots of relevant websites. No password required.
Logintolearn
A collection of online resources from the public library. Most are general reference databases but some subject specific in art, business and music. You must be a member of the library to use these.
